What does this number have to do with physiotherapy?
Jon Cone, CEO of Fit for 90, reports that in game of soccer, players on average change direction 1400 times in one game. That’s right, a whopping 1400 times!
That is a lot of sideways movement and starting and stopping in a 90 minute period!
Knowing this reminds me how sport specific our rehabilitation needs to be. Cutting drills, running around a cone, and lateral hops are critical in preparing your body to cope adequately for these 1400 movements.
It’s a good reminder that physiotherapy prescription of exercise is needed to help heal the injured area and then ultimately prepare the body for what lies ahead.
