About Jackson Zhou

Jackson Zhou is an experienced physiotherapist with a special interest in musculoskeletal and rheumatic conditions. Having graduated from the University of Sydney, Jackson has been an integral part of the multidisciplinary team at BJC Health.

Driven by a thirst for knowledge and a desire to broaden his skill set, Jackson pursued further studies and completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Rheumatology from the University of South Wales. This additional expertise allows him to make significant contributions to the treatment of various conditions, including osteoarthritis, axial spondyloarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis and associated tendinopathies.

Having worked closely with top-tier athletes in netball, soccer, and rugby, Jackson has a good understanding of the intricate demands of high-performance sports and the significance of tailored effective treatment strategies. In addition, Jackson has gained extensive experience in providing care to patients under the NDIS, Workers compensation, CTP, and DVA schemes.

Jackson aims to inspire and empower individuals to regain control over their conditions. He firmly believes that no injury should impede one's pursuit of passion and hobbies. Therefore, his treatment approach seamlessly integrates manual therapies with personalised exercise regimens, addressing the root biomechanical issues for a smooth journey to recovery.

Beyond his professional commitments, Jackson is an avid basketball and badminton player. On top of this, he loves to travel, snorkel and look for the next best food adventures.

Strength Training for Beginners

How can this event help me?

Strength training is one of the most powerful tools for supporting joint health, longevity, bone density, and long-term wellbeing. But knowing where to begin can feel overwhelming, particularly if you are managing a condition like osteoarthritis or osteoporosis, have been advised to start resistance training, or simply are not sure which exercises are right for you, how to do them safely, or how much is enough.

The amount of information out there can make it harder, not easier, to take that first step with confidence. Exercise Physiologists Sarah Comensoli and Kayleen Falconer have designed this session to cut through the noise and give you practical, reassuring guidance to get started safely and on your own terms.

In this session, you will learn:

  • How to start safely and without overwhelm: the key principles for beginning strength training in a way that feels achievable, no matter your starting point
  • How to choose simple, effective exercises: what types of movements to focus on early, and how to match them to your symptoms and current ability
  • How to adapt training for osteoarthritis and osteoporosis: practical guidance on protecting sensitive joints, building bone strength, and reducing fear around movement
  • How to interpret soreness and stiffness: what is normal, what to watch for, and how to adjust so you stay consistent without overdoing it
  • How to build a routine that actually sticks: realistic strategies to help you stay on track, even when motivation or energy dips

Join us on Wednesday, June 24th at 8:00 PM AEST for this informative live online event. As always, we welcome your questions and discussions to make this an engaging and supportive experience for everyone.
