More and more people seem aware of the microbiome.

I’ve noticed an increasing number asking me if their gut is linked to their autoimmune arthritis or their connective tissue disease (such as SLE).

This has been an evolving field and it’s believed the trillions of microorganisms lining the intestinal tract must in some way play a role in our health, and that will include, the health of our immune system.

It’s actually hard to describe what the microbiome is, so I thought I’d share with you this whiteboard animation I came across:
