Beyond growing pains: Managing hypermobiity joint syndrome

How can this event help me?

Living with hypermobility can impact life in unexpected ways. It can bring joint pain, fatigue, and challenges keeping up with daily activities at work, school, home, and play. In this practical and supportive session, physiotherapist Blanche will share clear, easy-to-follow strategies to help you or your child manage symptoms, protect joints, and build the confidence to move well. Whether you are navigating hypermobility yourself or supporting someone who is, you will leave with tools you can start using straight away.

Join Paediatric Physiotherapist Blanche Leung for an engaging and supportive session where she’ll cover:

  • Why Do My Joints Hurt When I’m So Flexible? Blanche will explain what hypermobility means, why it can cause pain, and how it may influence everyday activities from work to leisure.
  • Are There Any Braces or Tools That Can Help My Pain? Discover when tools like braces, splints, orthotics, or compression garments may help, and when focusing on strength-building might be more effective.
  • What Type of Exercise Can I Do? Blanche will guide you through safe movement principles, pacing strategies, and strength approaches that protect your joints from overload.
  • Why Am I So Fatigued? Explore how pain and joint instability can contribute to tiredness, and learn techniques for conserving and managing energy.
  • Take-Home Tips and Resources: Blanche will provide practical strategies and trustworthy information you can refer back to long after the session.

Whether you’re a parent, carer, educator, or living with hypermobility yourself, this live virtual event will give you knowledge, reassurance, and practical tools to make daily life easier. Join us on Wednesday, October 29th at 8:00 PM AEDT for this interactive session. As always, we welcome your questions and discussion to make this a valuable experience for everyone.
