Update: Monday November 30th, 2020

It has been awhile since I last wrote to you. I trust you have been keeping well.

I am sure you have noticed how much busier all public areas have been in recent weeks due to the warmer weather and relaxing of government restrictions. This is generally a good thing for the economy and for our general well-being. However, it would seem that many have been a little more lax with general social distancing and wearing of masks.

At BJC Health, we believe that we should continue practising the great hygiene principles that have kept us well throughout the pandemic here in NSW. Over the past 8 months, we have noticed a significant reduction in our team members being sick with the common cold and dare I say, the same for our patients. Let’s embrace what has been the envy of the world and continue to be smart.

Considering the type of patients we see in our clinics, we still suggest the following to be practised:

  • Refrain from attending if you are feeling unwell
  • Utilising telehealth consults if there is no physical need to see your practitioner
  • If you do come in, please wear a mask. This is to protect you and the other people you come in contact with. Our team will continue to wear masks as well.
  • Practise social distancing when in our clinics and as best you can everywhere else

We may be a little more conservative but considering we are a rheumatology centre, we would rather be a little more cautious. Hope you understand.

Lastly, I wish you all the best for the festive season ahead and I would like to thank you for all the support you have given us especially in what has been a very trying year.

Prior Update: Monday July 27th, 2020

I appreciate that you may be feeling greater unease with increasing community transmission here in NSW. BJC remains committed to keeping you and our team safe.

We have made the following changes to our COVID-19 safety protocols.

  • All team members will be wearing masks when they are in our clinics. This includes receptionists and our clinicians.
  • We ask that if you plan to attend the clinic, that you also wear a mask. As of (24/7/20), this is the advice from the NSW Government.
  • Our Exercise Physiologists are already wearing masks when facilitating exercise groups. Though appropriate social distancing is in place, we recommend you consider wearing masks too if you attend these sessions. Otherwise, we run over 20 live guided virtual exercise sessions daily per week. One free trial week is available to you. Please read more here.

There are reports that the coronavirus situation in NSW is at the same point Victoria’s was 5 weeks ago. The difference is that we can learn from Victoria’s misfortune and if we comply as a community, we may have a better fighting chance.

Our aim is to keep our rheumatology community as safe and healthy as possible and continue to implement and remind you of certain precautions and tips. These include:

I wish you all the best and hope that the NSW community can come together to avert a second wave. As always, feel free to contact me or any of our team if you have a query.

We have transformed our entire business to serve you at home, in the clinic and almost anywhere you are.   I hope you find both value and convenience in our telehealth and new virtual options.

Kind regards,

Errol Lim

Prior Update: July 10 Update

It’s been several weeks since my last update. I hope you’ve been doing well. Over the past several weeks, with restrictions easing in Sydney and greater NSW, more returning to the clinic to see us face to face.

It has been nice to see our waiting areas fill up a little more, to see people smiling and going about their day, more of what we have been used to. Some have come in for group exercise whilst many of you have enjoyed the convenience that telehealth has provided.  Read more...
