Pain.
It’s really hard to describe.
I’m guilty of being frustrated when my own family can’t properly describe it when they’re getting me to assess a problem. I’m thankfully more patient with my patients, but it’s the same deal.
Pain can be vague and the words we use can be very different.
I just came across this tool which looks good. Mercedes-Benz has apparently been working with Thai health professionals to develop a tool to cut through the barrier of language and to help with the difficulty of describing pain:
