Obesity

Obesity is an epidemic that grows and grows and grows. Obesity accelerates so many other health problems and as a nation that prides itself on sporting achievement, it is ironic that we continue to climb the ranks towards becoming the fattest industralised nation. It remains the disease where positive primary public health measures will have massive gains in curbing rapidly expanding health costs.

Treatment of Obesity requires a patient's commitment. While some patients benefit from medical treatment, the vast majority of obese patients require a coordinated, individualized program incorporating diet as well as an appropriate exercise routine to help burn the calories.

The combined treatment of diet and exercise will importantly improve blood pressure, cholesterol and glucose metabolism, with the ultimate goal of reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease.
