HeroesBy Dr Irwin Lim, Rheumatologist

At least some of you have been treated by the members of Heroes:

Hans Lee, Sarah Comensoli, Errol Lim, Rachael Butterworth

They are among the fittest in our clinic. They are also pretty deranged.

For the last 6 months, these Heroes (check out their facebook page) have been training for the Oxfam Trailwalker.

Teams of 4. 100km. Yes a 100km event. And our Heroes plan to RUN!

A crazy endurance event.

The commitment to train has been amazing and they're been ably supported by BJC Health's clinic staff. Nutrition has been meticulously planned by Chloe McLeod & Monica Kubizniak, our dieticians. Running biomechanics have been finetuned and injuries rock taped and patched up by our dedicated physiotherapists. Muscle rehabilitation after the gruelling training sessions occur with Hiroko Amagaya & Vanessa Ogata, our massage therapists.

The big race starts this Friday.

Heroes have been fundraising for Oxfam and have already raised more than $10,000. Oxfam carries out vital work around the world, enabling people to make positive change in their lives. Education is promoted, access to clean water is sought, skills to grow food taught.

There's still time to donate, and if you are able to help, please visit their fundraising page - link to the Oxfam Trailwalker.
