By Dr Irwin Lim, Rheumatologist

It was over a beer. A long day at a scientific conference. I happened to mention that I tweet.

The scientist leaned over and shot me a look. The look.

The one I often get when I mention twitter.

Isn't that something young girls do to follow Lady Gaga?

I explained. About it's role in patient advocacy, in improving disease awareness, and how I use it to enhance my education.

The scientist remained unconvinced.

Are you a serious doctor if you tweet? Do patients and colleagues look at you funny as well?
