Body Composition Testing
Body Composition Testing
Welcome to BJC Health Rheumatology Dept
Body composition test is used to specify the percentages of body fat, bone, water and muscle in human bodies. DEXA scans are becoming the gold standard in terms of body composition assessment. DEXA stands for Dual Energy X-Ray Absorptiometry. DEXA scans use low level radiation (less than you would get from a flight across Australia!) to differentiate between different types of tissue in the body.
DEXA scans are an effective way to track your progress and evaluate the effectiveness of weight management and disease risk reduction interventions.
DEXA scans are simple and non-invasive procedures that will give you accurate results without the human error that can be prevalent in girth measurements and skin folds.
At Parramatta BJC Health, our Dexa technician are also exercise physiologists and your scan is claimable under private health insurance dependent on your policy.
Please speak with reception to make an appointment.
Please be advised that the DEXA machine has a weight limit of 150kg, therefore we are unable to provide this service for anyone weighing over this limit.
